Who eats this?

Seriously … There are lots of good things to eat out there. Choose wisely or you will regret it. I like a good cookie for instance. But … it just so happens that we were out of cookies so the story goes like this:

Part one to the story: One of my daughters was just in town visiting from college and we loaded her up with food things for her to take back to her dorm. I remember looking in the bag of stuff we sent her away with and seeing Pop-tarts. I also remember asking myself where those came from because I don’t remember seeing them anywhere in the house and I’m pretty sure I have never had them before. So … it was a mystery.

Part two to the story: But then … after we dropped her off and I was back home, I was tidying up the kitchen where I see those pop tarts hidden under something on the counter … kinda like she took them out of her bag and hid them on our counter hoping we didn’t see them … and I also guessed she didn’t want them and didn’t want to hurt our feelings not taking something we gave her. So here is a food item a college kid won’t eat even if it’s free.

Part three to the story: So today, I wanted a cookie after a nice healthy salad for supper and that’s when I noticed we were out of cookies. I saw the pop-tart and said … well, that’s kinda like a cookie isn’t it? and I don’t remember ever having one, so I gave it a shot. I put them in the toaster, which is what I think you are supposed to do. And I kind of wrecked one taking them out of the toaster when they popped up.

I Put them on a plate and had a taste of the the one I broke.

What is this?

Moral of the story: I stopped. This is not a cookie. This is not a cake like item. This is not a toast like item with jam or something like that. And they are not tasty. I do not endorse them as a cookie substitute, and I get why a college kid doesn’t eat them even if they are free. And I still can’t figure out how they got into my house.

What this did do was remind me that I did have some fig cookies that I had just purchased from Trader Joes and forgot about. I had two.

Solid endorsement of the Trader Joes Fig cookie knock off’s of the Fig Newton.
